4: 2nd Production Era (Aug 2025-current)
Collaboration with South Asian Arts and RevRooms.
And then things changed… August 2025
I hadn’t planned for this but I am delighted to say that a whole new exciting phase in production has emerged from the ashes of the music-rights debacle. In my search for people who might rescore the film I stumbled across South Asian Arts and wrote them an email in the hope that there might be some scope for tapping into the extraordinary work that they have been building since 1997. Then, I got this message from Gaia, their senior administrator:
A follow up meeting with Keranjeet Kaur Virdee was quite an emotional experience for me as we discussed a possible collaboration.
Gails at Kings Cross was the scene of much emotion from me.
Keran is a force of nature and a natural producer who knows how to facilitate a nurturing space for creatives. Her work with the SAA team is massive - cultivating a centre for excellence in music and dance over decades. We spoke about their collaboration with Opera North on Orpheus. The outcome of our meeting is a whole new Phase 4 to the SEED project which is expected to last until late December:
rescoring the music with a specially commissioned group of musicians
the creation of a much longer linked piece of music which connects thematically with SEED
a live performance at the SAA Leeds winter solstice event in late December
the possibility of touring this unusual live-music-plus-animated-film combo
So here we are embarking on a phase that I never expected - and the possibility of making something even better than an animated short.
October 2025
I am delighted to be partnering with RevRooms who will be mixing the audio on SEED. Thanks Andy and Gav for their generosity.
RevRooms know a thing or two about sound.
What’s next?
For those of you who have got this far with my little tale there are still some needs which will help this piece fly further. I am actively looking someone with film and marketing savvy who will partner with this project and help me to get this out there. As the project progresses there are some exciting possibilities of serving an international audience with something distinctive. Please get in touch for a chat if any of this intrigues you.
